Katina Paxinou

Best Supporting Actress (1943) for For Whom The Bell Tolls

Greek-born Paxinou won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her performance as Pilar in For Whom The Bell Tolls, which was Ingmar Bergman's first technicolor film. She continued appearing in Hollywood productions until 1949, before she returned to Greece to resume her stage career.
