Having built up a successful TV career during the late 1940s and early 1950s, Saint made a successful transition to the big screen in 1954 with her Academy Award-winning role in On The Waterfront alongside Marlon Brando. She later appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest and has continued acting into her old age, starring as Clark Kent's adoptive mother in 2006's Superman Returns.
