Standing at 1.85m, Dai Xiang Yu oozes masculine charm with his chiselled features and charming eyes.

He was modelling in Japan before he returned to Shanghai and took part in a talent competition in search of good-looking and talented guys. He made it to the Top 20 list but before the competition was over, he was talent-spotted by MediaCorp and started his career in showbiz.

He was cast as the male lead in his first MediaCorp drama, Taste of Love, which was a co-production between Singapore and Taiwan. This debut performance led to him being invited back to Singapore to act in the blockbuster drama, The Little Nyonya, as the dreamy and endearing Japanese photographer Yamamoto Yousuke. The drama became the most watched drama in 15 years, and Dai Xiang Yu's compelling performance made him an overnight sensation.

A series of accolades ensued as he clinched 2 of the Top 8 Most Likeable Male Characters at the Channel 8 Countdown Party 2008 for his roles in Taste of Love and The Little Nyonya. He won The New Paper Flame Awards 2009 Dude of the Year and was the only local celebrity on the Her World 50 Men We Love 09 list. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor and clinched the Best Newcomer award at Star Awards 2009. In 2010, he scored a Best Actor nomination at Star Awards, and was named Male Media Darling and Top 10 Most Popular Male Artiste.

Dai Xiang Yu is one of the brightest and fastest rising new star the local entertainment industry has seen in recent years.
