A graduate from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Daren Tan outshined 6000 hopefuls to emerge the overall champion of Project SuperStar 2, Channel U's mammoth singing contest where the winner was voted by the audience.

Though he was booted out in the earlier stages of the competition, Daren did not disappoint his supporters as he continued to challenge himself and bounced back into action in the revival round. Once back into competition, Daren's vocals, slick dance and body movements consistently scored him high points and strong votes from the judges and viewers.

With his win, Daren inked a management contract with MediaCorp and a recording contract with Warner Music. Following the competition, Daren was invited to perform at the 1st Asia Pacific Youth Arts Festival in Shenzhen sharing the stage with Asian Superstar Jay Chou.

His debut solo album 不需理由 was released in Jan 2008. In the same year of his album release, Daren added another feather to his cap when he was cast as one of the leads in the acclaimed musical Beauty World directed by Ivan Heng with music by Dick Lee.

Daren also made his TV acting debut in The Defining Moment alongside Caldecott Hill's princess Fann Wong, as well as his first English hosting gig on Channel 5's Singapore OK!

In 2010, Daren also had the honor to perform a multi-ethnic song medley with fellow local singers at the National Day Parade.
