A former flight attendant, Thomas Ong made his acting debut on TV playing a detective in Love At Last in 1994. His performance received good reviews and the drama also achieved good ratings. With his dashing good looks and charming persona, he soon garnered a lot of attention from both the media and public.

Thomas' natural acting flair and hard work immediately propelled him to leading man status and he played many key roles within his first few years in the scene including The Last Rhythm, Wild Orchids, Unbroken Cycle and Full House. His popularity was further sealed when he was awarded the Top 5 Most Popular Male Artiste for 2 consecutive years (1995-96).

At the height of his career, Thomas took a 3 year break from the entertainment scene returning in 2004 with his first feature film, After School and a third collaboration with Fann Wong in the TV drama Beautiful Illusions.

In 2008, Thomas played a plastic surgeon, Alex Tan in Channeul U's very first prime-time local production, Perfect Cut. This 13-parter was so successful that it spawned a sequel.

The following year, he made his theatre debut with the musical Wild Wild Rose, an adaption from the black and white classic of the same name which tells the tale of seduction, love and betrayal between a sultry singer and a mediocre musician.

Thomas added another feather to his cap in 2010 when he turned into a newbie travel host globe-trotting to remote places of the world to bring viewers beautiful cities, buildings, tribes and traditions facing extinction in Diminishing Horizons.

In his latest outing, this skillful thespian plays a villain with a mysterious and devious character in Secrets For Sale, a Channel U mega drama about private investigators.
