Did you know that Taylor Swift’s The Red Tour has been going on for a whopping 16 months now?
That was one of the many fun facts we learned during a brief but interesting behind-the-scenes tour at last night’s Singapore gig, led by none other than Taylor’s mother Andrea herself.
The older Swift – whom you can clearly see where the younger gets her looks from – was bringing a group of about 20 around the elusive backstage area of the Singapore Indoor Stadium, covering several aspects of the show in a very kindly and motherly, yet professional, fashion. Some areas we learned about included the props, live feeds and, most importantly, the music.
“No one ever touches the instruments before a show,” she emphasised as she showed us a trunk stocked with a variety of guitars and banjos – all tuned, hooked up and ready to go. Also in the same box was a piece of paper with the evening’s set list taped on: a quick count revealed that we were in for 13 treats, a figure that is famously Taylor’s favourite number.
At the end of our mini excursion and after a photo opportunity with Andrea (she carries some star power of her own, as evidenced by the lucky few who spotted her clamouring for selfies), we made our way to our seat and waited for the rockfest to commence.
