These celebrities should just stick to what they do best – acting
With the rise of multi-hyphenates in showbiz (looking at you, Jay Chou and Lee Hom) today, celebrities are increasingly expected to excel in more than one area of expertise. Just like how we’re expected to multi-task adroitly in the workplace, actors are assumed to be equally capable at juggling between singing, directing, or both, as they are at acting - presuming they are even decent actors in the first place. Either that or the innate desire to branch out from their acting careers to try something totally different is like a natural-occurring DNA in a celebrity’s genetic makeup.
Truth be told, these lofty aspirations don’t always work out and celebrity endeavours to be more than just an actor have left a dent on their luminous careers. Sometimes it’s better to be a one-trick pony (and the master of one role or skill) than to fail horribly as a tone-deaf-one-trick pony and some more.
