Cecilia Cheung Donnie Yen

Cecilia Cheung's image may have plunged drastically since her marital woes with Nicholas Tse started two months ago, but at least one company is still banking on her star power.

Asia Entertainment Group (AEG) had cast the actress in The Lion Roars 2, and also signed a five-year managing contract with her for RMB120 million (about S$22 million).

Recently, to help Cecilia boost her popularity, AEG reportedly forked out a large capital for Cecilia to star alongside martial arts actor Donnie Yen in the upcoming Hong Kong remake of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The Hollywood movie starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as a pair of husband and wife who are assassins.

It was said that, in order to get Donnie to star with the actress, AEG had increased the actor's payout from RMB 20 million (about S$3.7 million) to RMB 30 million (about S$5.6 million).

With Cecilia receiving a payout of RMB 20 million (about S$2.8 million), the total payout for just the main cast alone would cost up to RMB 50 million (about S$9.3 million).

AEG's head honcho, Yu Yuxing, confirmed the report and expressed that he had already met Donnie and both had reached a preliminary agreement.

Yuxing added that the payout for both Donnie and Cecilia are reasonable. He believes that they will be the perfect match and that sparks between them can be expected.
