If Vidhu Vinod Chopra would have had his way, then Shah Rukh Khan would have been Munna of Munna Bhai M.B.B.S and Rancho aka Phunsukh Wangdu of 3 Idiots.

Chopra, who is celebrating his thirty years in the industry with a film festival, in a candid tete-a-tete with the Press said, "Shah Rukh was offered 3 Idiots, Ferrari Ki Sawari, Munnabhai and other films. He is our first guy - we go to him first and if he says no, then we move on."

Though all the blockbusters were earlier offered to Khan, SRK couldn't do them because of date and health issues. The filmmaker wanted to rope in Sanjay Dutt for the character of Zaheer in Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, which was later essayed by Jimmy Shergill, before he signed him as the main lead of the film.

However, Vidhu is today is proud of both, his flicks and its cast. "Today, I feel Sanjay is perfect as Munna and same way Sharman fits the central role in Ferrari Ki Sawari. It is all about writing and getting the right actor for the right role, which is difficult," he added.

Bollywood big-wigs are attending the retrospective of the movies made by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, in the ongoing film festival.
