We embarked on a journey back to the good old times at the Michael Learns to Rock (MLTR) Live in Singapore concert last night – the Danish soft rock band returned as part of an Asian tour, five years since they last stepped foot here.
The legendary trio, formed in 1988, has gained great popularity worldwide with their old-school soft rock music and a recognisable, unique blend of songs which, as they have previously admitted, do not fit into any music trend.
Perhaps that’s why they continue to be well-loved, especially in Asia, with global record sales of 11 million albums and over 50 million video views on YouTube. Their simple classic hits resonate with the audience and tug at our heartstrings.
More significantly, they bring us back to a time when pop music was uncomplicated and can be enjoyed in its fundamental element (without all the unnecessary techno or electric flourishes).
