Bobby Au-Yeung hospitalised with Pneumonia
Hong Kong actor Bobby Au-Yeung was rushed to the hospital’s intensive care unit, after showing signs of discomfort at a dinner gathering on Monday night. The 52-year-old reportedly slipped into a coma at one point, but he has since regained consciousness following diagnosis and treatment for Pneumonia (inflammatory condition of the lungs).
Bobby’s manager denied speculations saying that the actor was suffering from alcohol poisoning, and clarified that his condition was due to lung inflammation which resulted from eating the “wrong stuff”.
Adding that the actor will be taking a break from filming for the time being, she continued, “He’s taken his medicine. But he needs to be intubated [in the throat] and to stay in the hospital for observation for about a week.”
According to media reports, Bobby and a group of TVB artistes including Michael Tse, Michael Tao, Derek Kok, Ron Ng and friends, met up for drinks and dinner on the second day of the Chinese New Year. The party carried on until 4am when Bobby suddenly complained of sleepiness. His wife Fu Kit-Han called for an ambulance immediately after she noticed that something was amiss as his face had turned pale.
“It’s okay. He’s fine, he’s fine,” said Kit-Han, who was seen with teary eyes when she spoke to the reporters waiting outside the hospital.
