Christopher Lee scores two nominations at Asian Television Awards
The nominations list for 17th Asian Television Awards, set to take place on December 6 in Singapore, was recently announced, revealing the large number of nods that the industry has given to both local actors and programmes.
Among the front-runners is MediaCorp artiste Christopher Lee, who has been nominated in the Best Entertainment Presenter/Host and Best Actor in a Leading Role categories for his work in The Adventures of Chris and Show Hand respectively. Chew Chor Meng was also nominated for the Best Actor category for his role in Show Hand.
Local actresses also received nods for their work, with Ann Kok, Joanne Peh and Rui En nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for their roles in Show Hand, A Song to Remember and Unriddle II respectively. Ann scored a second nomination in the same category for Kampong Ties.
Channel 5’s The Noose Season 5 has proven to be a heavyweight in the comedy awards categories, receiving four nominations, including Best Comedy Programme and Best Comedy Performance by an Actor/Actress for three cast members – Suhaimi Yusof, Chua Enlai and Michelle Chong.
MediaCorp also received nominations in Best Documentary Series, Best Preschool Education Programme, Best Game or Quiz Programme, Best Reality Show, Best Talk Show, Best Cross-Platform Content and Best 2D Animated Programme.
Among the other local nominees are Mark Lee, Chen Han Wei, Devarajan Varadarajan, Tay Ping Hui, Dusita Anuchit Chancha and Pan Ling Ling. Mark is nominated for the Best Entertainment Presenter/Host in It’s a Small World. Devarajan and Dusita were given nods for their supporting roles in Point of Entry Season 2. Han Wei and Ping Hui are vying for the Best Actor In a Supporting Role award for their work in A Song To Remember and Unriddle II respectively. Ling Ling rounds up the local actors’ nominations with her supporting role in A Song To Remember.
The glitzy ceremony will take place at the Shangri-la Hotel, Singapore on December 6.
