Another reason for David’s visit to the Lion City was to be a part of Marina Bay Sands’ Sands for Singapore Festival, which raises funds to help local welfare organisations. He donated a pair of football boots, which bear his children’s names, Victoria’s initials, and his signature.

The flashy footwear joins a list of other celebrity-contributed items that will go on auction at the annual charity event. Other cool things up for grabs include caps signed by the cast of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, a limited edition backpack from Korean superstar Rain, a silver bracelet from Hollywood star Eva Longoria, and an autographed movie poster from Wang Lee Hom and Zhang Ziyi.

“It’s a special gift because they’ve always been special to me,” David said. When asked why he had them made in hot pink (a seemingly unconventional choice for a macho sportsman such as himself), he explained, “I’ve always been able to dedicate my boots to my children at some point, and obviously, these pink ones were for my little girl.”

Cue more “aww’s” from the audience…
