Dawn Yeoh takes her showbiz career to Taiwan
Once dubbed as one of the “Seven Princesses” in MediaCorp, local actress Dawn Yeoh is finally returning to the small screen after her last drama appearance in Daddy At Home four years ago. Contractual disputes have kept her off the public eye since, and the 26-year-old will be playing a new role in upcoming Ch8 drama The Dream Makers.
In spite of the comeback, Dawn has decided to take her career to Taiwan, joining the league of local artistes such as Shaun Chen, Andie Chen and Christopher Lee. Speaking to xinmsn at the show’s imaging session, she let on that the talks with a Taiwanese artiste management company have been going on for a while and now, all she needs to do is to fly over once filming for The Dream Makers ends.
The actress originally intended to relocate earlier but the plans were delayed after she received several endorsements and musical invites in Singapore and Malaysia.
“Honestly speaking, I’m still a little paranoid when it comes to ‘signing contract’ because of the bad experience previously,” said Dawn.
Describing the contractual dispute as a life lesson, the starlet admitted that it was “a huge blow” to her and took almost a year to recover from “the lowest point in her life”. In the four years that she disappeared from the limelight, Dawn packed her bags and travelled to different countries around the world such as the United States, Australia and Japan.
Not one to rest on her laurels, Dawn will also venture into singing during her free time. She quoted Jazz, Bossa Nova and Blues as some of the few musical genres she learned over the years.
When asked if she is intending to pursue a singing career, Dawn declined to comment but promised to announce the details when things are confirmed.
