Dennis Chew leaving YES 93.3FM in March
Yes 93.3FM DJ Dennis Chew will officially bid farewell to his Yes 93.3FM listeners on March 1 and move to Love 97.2FM in mid-March.
The popular DJ’s broadcasting career started with a part-time job at Captial 95.8FM in 1992, before joining YES 93.3FM as a DJ the following year. As this year marks his 20th year in the industry, Dennis made one of the most important decisions in his life – leaving 93.3FM to join Love 97.2FM.
In an interview with xinmsn, Dennis explained the major decision, “I want to try out new things and change an environment for a refreshing experience. When you stick to a place for a long time, it becomes your comfort zone and you will remain stagnant.”
He felt regretful that while the audience recognised his efforts in acting, television hosting and other areas, there have not been much improvement in his radio DJ career.
Dennis said in a serious tone, “I’m 40 years old this year. It’s time to rethink my future.”
He added that he went on a two-month-long holiday last year because he needed to “miss his job”. “In the past I only took a few days off, so every time I return to work I will feel a little weary,” Dennis explained.
During the phone interview, Dennis stressed that he was very happy throughout his time at YES 93.3FM, and he is very close with his colleagues.
Turning 40 this year, the bubbly radio personality does not think he is “too old” for YES 93.3FM which caters to the younger audience. “Although I’m old, I play around and get along very well with my colleagues. My attitude is still very ‘933’.”
