Hong Kong singer Eason Chan was forced to cancel his “Eason's LIFE” concert in Nanning on Saturday, due to a high fever of 38.6 degrees Celsius. The 39-year-old had reportedly been suffering from throat inflammation and his condition worsened after arriving in the Chinese city.

A doctor, who was called to the hotel, deemed the King of Cantopop too weak to perform a full-length concert and advised him to have ample rest instead.

Following discussions with the event organiser, Eason agreed to postpone the show to Aug 2 and took an overnight flight back to Hong Kong. He was admitted into the hospital for treatment shortly after he landed.

Ticket holders will be allowed entry to the concert in August with their existing tickets. Although the organiser will be providing full and unconditional refunds to those who are unable to attend the postponed show, 90 percent of the fans have expressed their wish to retain their tickets.

As it was the first time in 18 years that Eason pulled out from his concert at the last minute, his manager made a public apology to the fans and asked for their understanding. When asked on the losses suffered due to the cancellation, he commented that “money is not important” and that there are “always risks involved in concerts”.
