Eason Chan does not want his daughter to appear on TV

The Hong Kong singer has no intentions of participating in variety shows with his daughter

Reality programmes featuring celebrity parents and their children may be the hottest shows on TV right now, but Canto-Mandopop star Eason Chan does not intend to jump on the bandwagon with his 9-year-old daughter, Constance Chan.

In an email interview with xinmsn, Eason commented that he has “no time to watch” popular Chinese programme Dad, Where Are You Going – where the father-son pairing of Jimmy Lin and Kimi Lin stole the hearts of viewers all over the world – indirectly dismissing the possibility of him joining the show.

Known for his protective ways over Constance, Eason recently got into a fierce argument with reporters at the Hong Kong airport, after the family of three returned from a vacation in Britain. “You guys really don’t care about the child’s feelings,” he chided.

Evading all personal questions in the interview, Eason chose instead to share about his upcoming concert, whose theme was conceptualised by the singer himself, in Singapore next month.

So, why did he title the tour “Eason’s LIFE”?

“Your thinking changes when you grow up. ‘LIFE’ talks about living, sickness, death, love, friendship, kinship and more,” Eason explained. “Sometimes, we are so focused on the big events in life that we neglect the little details.”

Through the concert, the balladeer hopes that people would realise the importance and value of the “small things”, and invest more in finding out different significances of life.
