Edison Chen plays supporting character in new film
After five years away from the spotlight Hong Kong celebrity Edison Chen has returned to the limelight to play a supporting character in Almost Perfect, a romantic comedy by Taiwanese director Bertha Pan.
Edison, who plays the brother of female lead Kelly Hu, attended a promotional event for Almost Perfect in Taiwan on Wednesday and was reportedly extremely nervous as it is his first comeback film in Asia since his sex scandal in 2008.
The movie, slated to be released in Taiwan theatres next Friday, initially cast the 33-year-old actor as the male lead.
However, Edison graciously rejected the offer at that point as he did not feel right embracing a relationship, even if it it were just on film.
But when probed by reporters about his relationship with girlfriend Ann Hong, he happily revealed, “We’re in a very stable relationship now and she has helped to regain my confidence in acting in intimate scenes.”
