Ekin Cheng speaks up for Yoyo Mung
Hong Kong actress Yoyo Mung, whose contract with TVB is rumoured to be expiring at the end of this month, was reportedly offered top dollar to join rival station HKTV.
According to the Hong Kong media, the rumours caused TVB to cancel the actress’ promotional activities for her new drama A Great Way To Care II, compelling her husband Ekin Cheng to speak up in her defence.
At an event yesterday, he said, “TVB is an organisation so it wouldn’t be so petty. But I can’t be sure about the personnel in charge of the station’s internal operations.”
In addition, the 45-year-old found it “strange” that Yoyo’s work is being cancelled while the company is negotiating her contract renewal.
“How do you expect people to renew their contract in this way?”
When asked if he thinks TVB is ‘unfeeling’, Ekin commented, “it is better to treat others well so that everyone can be happier.”
He also clarified that Yoyo’s impending crossover to HKTV is only a rumour, suggesting that the offers from both sides are favourable. However, his wife’s eventual decision will depend on the results of her manager’s discussions with the two companies.
