Fan Bing Bing tops Forbes’ China Celebrity 100 list
Fan Bing Bing replaced Jay Chou to come in first on Forbes’ China Celebirty 100 list this year. Released on Tuesday, the China Celebrity 100 is an annual list which ranks the influence of Chinese celebrities based on factors such as income, search engine hits as well as exposure on newspapers, magazines and television.
Although Bing Bing’s annual income of RMB $110 million (approximately S$22 million) lags slightly behind Donnie Yen’s, the actress often appears at international film festivals and events such as The Oscars and The Cannes International Film Festival, allowing her to climb to the top spot with her higher media exposure.
Jay Chou, who ranked first last year, dropped to the second spot. Following behind are Andy Lau, Jackie Chan, Zhang Ziyi, Eason Chen, Yang Mi, Huang Xiao Ming, Jolin Tsai and Lin Chi-Ling. Huang Xiao Ming’s achievement is especially remarkable as the Chinese actor is on the list for the ninth consecutive year.
The top earning artiste on the list is Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen, with an annual income of RMB $115 million (approximately S$23 million). Following closely behind him is Fan Bing Bing, while Jay Chou ranks third with an annual income of RMB $100 million (approximately S$20 million).
