Frankie Gao’s scheduled show to become memorial concert
Originally scheduled to be held on Mar 8, Frankie Gao’s 40th anniversary concert will be turned into a memorial concert for the late singer, who died from leukemia on Monday (Feb 17) at the age of 63.
In memory of his beloved father, Frankie’s son Bao Di will be singing the singer’s iconic hits, such as ‘A Fire in Winter’ and ‘Flaming Phoenix’, at the memorial concert.
After battling with cancer for over a year, Frankie was recently admitted into New Taipei City Xindian Tzu Chi General Hospital and was diagnosed to be in critical condition. It is reported that the veteran singer’s blood platelet level was severely low and the doctor had advised his family members to be “mentally prepared”.
According to Frankie’s assistant, the singer was aware that his condition was deteriorating, as he had previously told his children to “take good care of themselves”. At the hospital, Frankie was too weak to speak and teared uncontrollably.
