Nicole Kidman may have the glamour of Grace Kelly nailed but according to the audience and critics at Cannes 2014, her efforts to play the Princess of Monaco fell well short.

Laughter was reportedly heard during a press screening of the biopic Grace of Monaco, and Empire’s Damon Wise branded it ‘sidesplittingly funny’ before clarifying ‘the trouble is, it's not actually meant to be a comedy’.

It hasn't been well-received by the royal family of Monaco either. Grace's son Prince Albert said in an official statement: "The Princely family does not in any way wish to be associated with this film which reflects no reality and regrets that its history has been misappropriated for commercial purposes."
