Hong Kong fans risk heatstroke to meet EXO
On Saturday (May 31), 500 fans flocked to the Hong Kong airport to welcome South Korean boyband EXO, who was there for their first world tour The Lost Planet.
Despite warnings of “very hot weather” by Hong Kong Observatory, EXO fans, including some who specially travelled from China, braved the high temperature of 33 degrees Celsius for a glimpse of their idols.
Worried that EXO would exit from the VIP passage, the fans chose to stand by at the outdoor carpark instead of the air-conditioned arrival hall. Some even brought stools to rest their legs while waiting.
As predicted by the fans, the EXO members, excluding Kris who has been missing in action after filing a lawsuit against SM Entertainment three weeks ago, arrived in Hong Kong at 1pm and headed to the carpark via the VIP passage.
Under the escort of 20 security guards, the boys responded to the warm reception by waving and smiling. Rapper Chanyeol incited more screams when he removed his shades for the fans to have a clear view of his face.
After the 11 members left in three separate cars, the fans were seen dangerously chasing after them on the road.
