Il Divo to hold Broadway-theme concert in Singapore
English multinational operatic pop group Il Divo is returning to Singapore in March to stage a Broadway-themed concert following their last concert here in 2009. They will perform a series of musical hits from Phantom of the Opera, Carousel, West Side Story and more during their concert tour ‘Il Divo – A Musical Affair: The Greatest Songs of Broadway Live’.
To mark the 10th anniversary of Il Divo, this concert is based on their sixth studio album, A Musical Affair, which is inspired by Broadway shows. The album showcases the quartet’s interpretation of classics like ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ (South Pacific), ‘Bring Him Home’ (Les Miserables) and ‘Tonight’ (West Side Story).
Having sold over 26 million albums worldwide, received 160 gold and platinum sales awards in over 33 countries and staged four successful world tours, the international quartet is considered to be one of the world’s most successful classical crossover groups. The quartet also clinched the Artist of the Decade award at the Classic BRIT Award in 2011.
The four singers comprise of tenor Urs Buhler from Switzerland, baritone Carlos Marin from Spain, pop artist Sébastien Izambard from France and tenor David Miller from the United States. They also have theatre experience – Carlos was cast as Marius in Les Misérables in 1993, while David played Rodolfo in Broadway’s La Bohème in 2003, which subsequently garnered seven Tony nominations.
Priority ticket booking for Visa cardholders starts next Tuesday, Jan 28. Public sales will start on Feb 11.
