The 33rd Hong Kong Film Awards ceremony was held in Hong Kong, China, 13 April 2014. "The Grandmaster" scooped the awards in most major categories, including Best Director for Wong Kar Wai, Best Actress for Zhang Ziyi and Best Supporting Actor for Max Zhang. The masterpiece was the biggest winner at the ceremony by bagging 12 awards out of 14 nominations. Zhang Ziyi bagged the 9th trophy for her role "Gong Er" and was full of joyful tears on the stage. She expressed her gratitude to director Wong and co-star Tony Leung Chiu Wai at her acceptance speech, saying that Tony was the Best Actor in her heart and she thanked Wong for being such a wonderful director for saving her from darkness and bringing out the best of her as an actress. Meanwhile, HK actor Nick Cheung received the Best Actor award for his movie "Unbeatable". He won the Movie King title in two consecutive years.
