International star Jackie Chan, together with Chinese starlets Yao Xingtong and Zhang Lanxin, were in town yesterday as part of the film's Asian-wide promotional tour. Besides attending the press conference and a meet-the-fans session, the entourage also graced the red carpet event for CZ12's Gala Premiere at Resorts World Sentosa Festive Grand Theatre.
Honoured as the first Chinese movie to hold a red carpet event and premiere screening at the 1400-seater Festive Grand Theatre, the crowd was armed with cameras and many squeezed for a spot to catch a glimpse of the legendary action hero.
Flashlights went ablaze when Jackie made his grand entrance with a wide smile and a friendly wave of his hands, and chortles ensued as he greeted fans with his 'broken Hokkien' on stage.
Directed and produced by Jackie himself, CZ12 took seven years to prepare and one year to shoot with a production budget of US$50 million (S$62 million). Other than the two female leads, South Korean heartthrob Kwon Sang-woo and French actress Laura Weissbecker co-stars in the movie with and Jackie's wife Lin Feng Jiao making a cameo appearance.
Playing the roles of actor, writer, director, producer, cinematographer, composer, stunt coordinator and even 'catering coordinator' on top of other titles, the 58-year-old has set two new Guinness World Records, namely Most Credits in One Movie, and Most Stunts Performed by a Living Actor for his body of work.
While he announced that his 101th film, CZ12 (Chinese Zodiac 2012), will be his last action production, Jackie assured fans that he will continue making movies and joked that he might venture into romance films next.
