Some artistes capped off 2013 with standout drama projects and notable work accomplishments, but for Joanne Peh and Qi Yuwu, finding love and companionship in each other was definitely the best thing that happened to the both of them this year.
The showbiz couple, who made a much celebrated appearance at the Celebrate TV 50 Anniversary red carpet walk last night, unanimously spoke about their newfound relationship, at separate backstage interviews with xinmsn.
“This year has been a very fruitful year for me – I’ve been working on one drama after another, both on Channel 8 and Channel 5. And this year is also the year that I found love – it is a very, very good year for me,” quipped Joanne, 30, as her Guangzhou-born beau agreed, “The most meaningful thing in 2013 is finding my life partner.”
They may be head over heels in love with each other but don’t expect wedding bells to ring for them anytime soon, said the couple.
Yuwu, 37, explained that they are simply “enjoying in the moment right now” as they just got together recently. “We’ll take it one step at a time and see where fate brings us,” he added.
Currently in the thick of filming upcoming Ch8 drama C.L.I.F. 3, the lovebirds also intend to make a trip to Yuwu’s hometown in Guangzhou to celebrate the Lunar New Year – if time and schedule permits.
“We may only have four to five days of break and I’m hoping for a chance to return to Guangzhou for the Lunar New Year. And if Joanne can [make it], she hopes to come back with me too,” he said. “She has never experienced that before and she’s curious to see how it’d be like to spend New Year there.”
“I’m sure it’d be very festive!” Joanne piped in, “In Singapore we have to work [on Lunar New Year] most of the time. So if I have the chance [to visit Guangzhou], I’m sure it’d be a very memorable New Year.”
