Julian Cheung has more than 20 million Weibo fans
Popular Hong Kong celebrity Julian Cheung has become so popular online that he has garnered over 20 million fans on Weibo.
To reward fans, it’s usual for celebrities to give away presents or “benefits” whenever their Weibo fan count surpasses a certain number. Some who have done so are Hong Kong singer G.E.M Tang, who has recently shot to fame, and Taiwanese singer Jimmy Lin.
Julian rose to popularity after starring in Hong Kong drama Triumph in the Skies 2 last year, and when his fan count reached 10 million then, he posted a photo of himself with his son, Morton, on Weibo.
This time, he put up a photo of Morton jumping into the water, which was taken when father and son went to Maldives for a vacation some time ago.
Together with the photo, he commented: “Unknowingly, it’s more than 20 million! Here’s the reward: A photo I think that’s quite well-taken in Maldives. It’s called ‘So happy I can fly’. Have a happy Monday everyone!”
Although the Morton’s face could not be seen clearly in the picture, many fans ‘liked’ it, and even suggested that father and son could participate in reality TV show Dad, Where Are We Going?, which shows outdoor interactions between father and child.
