Rumour has it that Hong Kong veteran actress Lee Heung Kam is suffering from dementia and has to rely on a wheelchair to move about.

According to the Hong Kong media, this has also affected the 81-year-old actress’ sense of hearing and memory.

Initially suspected to be suffering from Parkinson’s disease, rumours about her condition began after she was spotted undergoing physiotherapy in the company of her family. Reports claimed that she had difficulty moving about and need her family to support her when she got up from her wheelchair.

The news has saddened many fans and friends who were concerned about the actress’ health and they have all expressed support for her.

However, Heung Kam showed no signs that her health was deteriorating when she was seen meeting TVB executive Virginia Lok and a few others at a dim sum restaurant yesterday afternoon. She appeared energetic even though she had to be pushed around in a wheelchair.

When asked how she was feeling, Heung Kam told reporters, “Everyone thinks that I cannot remember things now. But actually I can remember everything!” She added that she enjoys being outdoors and loves going for dim sum.

On the possibility of her returning to work, the passionate actress said that she would “never retire” from acting and will continue to appear on shows as long as she has the energy to do so.
