Lee Hom’s mother-in-law is a retired celebrity
After he was cast in the media spotlight for his sudden announcement of marriage, Lee Hom made headlines again for another surprising discovery. His wife, Lee Jinglei’s mother used to be a retired celebrity – Lee Yao Min.
Jinglei, a 27-year-old Columbia University graduate student, has been placed in public scrutiny ever since the Taiwanese heartthrob declared that she is his “forever love”. Despite the flurry of public interest in his newfound love, Lee Hom has been very protective of his wife who is 10 years his junior, and kept her background under wraps.
Recent Taiwanese reports now revealed that Jinglei’s mother used to be a movie star, and have been cast in cop-and-robber story Return to Action with veteran Hong Kong actor Alex Man and retired actress Rosamund Kwan. In the movie, she played the role of an undercover police officer who snuck her way into a drug syndicate, but was found out and killed soon after.
Despite her multiple on-screen appearances, Yao Min, who is now in her fifties, did not rise to popularity. She was also found to be on good terms with Chen Fei Long, the president of Nam Chow Group, a major manufacturing business that produces margarine for bread and pastries.
The luxury bungalow that Yao Min stays in is estimated to cost more than NT200 million (approximately S$8.46 million) and she is neighbours with Chinese politician Li Ao and the mother of Taiwanese socialite Aimee Sun.
