Michelle Monaghan (Source Code) played the half-breed demon Ellie in director Francis Lawrence’s Constantine. An adaptation of the Hellblazer comic book, Constantine stars Keanu Reeves as the demon hunter John Constantine. Lawrence has said in interviews that Monaghan’s performance was cut from the final film because her character’s relationship with Constantine (they were lovers) undercut the movie’s theme of loneliness. As the director told About.com: “She’s very attractive, demon or not. You’re just not that lonely of a guy if you can go and hook up with girls like this.”
