Mayday will perform at F1 this year
Popular Taiwanese rock band Mayday will be in Singapore on September 19 to perform at this year’s Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix for the first time, a year after they were here for their NOWHERE World Tour concert 2013 that had both their first and second shows sold out at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The quintet consisting of Ashin, Monster, Stone, Masa and Ming will perform chart-topping hits such as ‘Gentle’, ‘Stubborn’, ‘Love ING’ and ‘Don’ts Don’ts’ at Padang this year.
Dubbed as ‘The Chinese Beatles’ by the Washington Post, Mayday’s popularity is not only confined to Asia, having performed in major cities such as Los Angeles, London, Paris and New York as well with over 10 million fans worldwide. They recently completed the US and Europe leg of their NOWHERE World Tour, and performed to a 14,000 crowd at the Madison Square Garden.
They were also the first Chinese rock band to perform at YouTube’s headquarters in California.
Mayday’s latest (eighth) studio album The Second Round won them six awards at the 2012 Golden Melody Awards. Since their debut 15 years ago, they have sold over eight million records, and is one of Asia’s long-standing boybands.
On returning to Singapore, Mayday said: “Singapore holds a special place in our hearts we are looking forward to performing here again. It will definitely be a spectacular night full of high-energy performances!”
Entry to the Mayday concert at the Padang stage as well as all other entertainment in Zone 4 is included with any three-day 2014 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix ticket or Friday Zone 4 Walkabout ticket.
A limited number of Friday Zone 4 Walkabout tickets are currently available at a special promotional price of S$38, exclusively for Singaporeans and Singapore residents.
