Nicky Wu has emerged as Taiwan’s highest paid actor for the second year running, reportedly pocketing NTD$270million (S$11.42million) in earnings this year. Nicky, who was also top earner last year, beat closest opponent, Alec Su, by a slim margin. Actress Ruby Lin ranked third.

The Taiwanese actor enjoyed widespread fame after filming mainland drama Scarlet Heart last year and has been hotly in demand by producers ever since. This year alone, he has filmed Chinese series The Bride with White Hair and Xiang Zhe Pao Huo Qian Jin, fronted an advertisement and has attended 20 promotional events.

Alec has also had a bumper year, investing NTD$60million (S$2.54million) into self-directed movie Destiny by Love, in which he also played the lead character. In addition, he has filmed four other movies, bringing in an estimated total of NTD$200million (S$8.5million).

Ruby rounded up the list with the bulk of her NTD$194million (SS$8.2million) coming from Drama Go GoGo and Forgotten. She took on the dual role of producer and lead actress in both the drama and film respectively.

Last year’s runner-up for top earner, Jimmy Lin, suffered a drastic reduction in earnings, having chosen to spend time with his son instead of accepting job offers.
