Making occasional jokes about one another and finishing off each other’s sentences during their movie press conference in Singapore yesterday, Hong Kong actors, Andy Lau and Gordon Lam, are closer in reality than reports say.
Recently, Gordon was rumoured to be on bad terms with Andy, his mentor and friend of more than 10 years, as he felt that his lead actor role in their latest movie, Firestorm, was reduced to that of a supporting character’s role.
However, unlike the alleged tension, the two shared friendly gestures and even agreed to do a “fierce glaring pose” together, which ended up in bursts of laughter.
Held at the Marina Bay Sands, the press conference was equally enjoyable as we watched Andy poke fun at Gordon’s notably poor spoken Mandarin and the latter unabashedly profess “enjoying” his love scenes with co-actress, Yao Chen – we sensed no animosity between the duo.
Speaking to reporters about their rumoured dispute, Gordon explained, “I think some media just needed something for their headlines and since I have not been in the news lately, it seemed like a good topic.”
Andy, on the other hand, said that he does not pay much attention to such news, as long as it does not hurt his friendship with Gordon.
