The worlds of alt-rock, rap and classic rock collided as Peter Frampton, Sonic Youth, Cypress Hill and the Smashing Pumpkins joined Homer on the bill of a touring festival in season seven's 'Homerpalooza'. The episode is responsible for arguably one of the show's greatest ever gags. The singer of the latter band greets Homer by saying: "Hi, Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins". Homer responds with: "Homer Simpson. Smiling politely".
