Rainie Yang & Joseph Cheng: We’re just platonic friends
Despite the heavy downpour in Taiwan last Sunday, a thousand fans of pop singer Rainie Yang showed up at an autograph session for her new album, Angel Wings. Joseph Cheng, best friend and a fellow actor, was also there to show his support.
According to Rainie, the duo met and became close through a mutual friend Beatrice Hsu, who had unfortunately passed away in 2007.
While speaking to reporters, the 29-year-old singer revealed that her friendship with Joseph was special.
“Back when all of us were younger, Joseph used to mock and nag at our (Beatrice and her) silly mistakes and he can get really fierce sometimes. I think he’s the only male artist who dares to yell at me,” she said.
Rainie then added she is grateful for having Joseph as he is always by her side, providing comfort and support whenever she gets caught up in a tricky situation (especially when it comes to matters of the heart).
Radiating an air of happiness, she shyly revealed, “Joseph is a chauvinistic man, but I gladly resign and accept him for who he is.”
Likewise, Joseph expressed his close friendship with the singer with a hand sewn quilt to congratulate her chart-topping album and ambiguously added, “This is also to keep you company at night when I am not around.”
However when probed by reporters about their relationship, Joseph smiled and said, “Rainie and I are platonic friends, nothing will happen even if we share the same bed.”
