Romeo Tan gets lady luck in his first English series

Up-and-coming local actor Romeo Tan accomplished a number of 'firsts' after landing his role in xinmsn's latest web series Of Love & Hidden Charms, an office-based drama in the world of journalism. It is his debut in a web series and his first time acting in an English drama, where he also filmed his first kissing scene since he joined Mediacorp in 2010.

In the series, he takes on the role of Marcus, a suave sports editor who also shares an intimate relationship with his boss Janet, played by Beam artiste Teh Choy Wan. Filming an entire drama in English for the first time, he revealed his mixed feelings in an interview with xinmsn.

"I'm nervous but I'm really looking forward to it," Romeo said as he admitted that English is actually his second language.

Rebecca Lim, whom Romeo is also romantically linked to in the drama, mentioned in an earlier interview that the actor had been working hard for the drama and often asked for her advice.

Working with a new production team and in a language that he was less fluent in, he put in extra effort in reading and practicing his script, especially focusing on his pronunciation. He laughed, "I finally understand how Rebecca felt when she first acted in Chinese dramas."

Nonetheless, being friends with co-stars Rebecca and Nat Ho in real life made it easier and less stressful for the 27-year-old to get in character, as they enjoyed the filming process together.
