Singapore is no stranger to celebrity visitors and red carpet events, but last night marked the first time it hosted a global media event for a Hollywood film: The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Mark Juliano, the senior vice president of marketing at Marina Bay Sands, where the prestigious event was held, credits this to the “fantastic media department that helped land this great event”. He also believes that this will be the first of many high-profile Hollywood events in town. “Every time we have an opportunity to do a premiere like this, we will,” he assured.
Throngs of reporters and TV crews from around the globe descended upon our tiny island for the highly-anticipated extravaganza, but the most celebrated arrivals were that of the upcoming Marvel flick’s main cast: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx, as well as director Marc Webb.
Besides promoting the movie, the cast is also in town to support Earth Hour 2014, an annual event that encourages people to switch off their lights for an hour as a symbol of commitment to the planet. Spider-Man is the first superhero ambassador for the movement.
