Stars spend big at Jackie Chan’s charity auction
Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan held a charity auction in Beijing yesterday (April 7) on his 60th birthday. Stars from all over Asia gathered at the event and donated generously to support the cause.
In order to celebrate Jackie’s 60th birthday, the actor had planned a series of special events. The Love & Peace & Friendship concert that was held in Beijing the night before saw big-names such as singers Lee Zong Sheng, Jay Chou, Lee Hom, Hong Kong artistes Coco Lee and Leo Ku, Korean idol group EXO, Kim Hee Sun and Japan singer MISIA arriving to offer their blessings.
During the concert, Coco revealed that she was once Jackie’s neighbor in San Francisco, and praised Joan Lin’s (Jackie’s wife) cooking. To commemorate the special night, actor Leo Ku got Super Junior member Choi Si Won – who shares a birthday with Jackie – and Jackie to take a photo together with him, adding to his collection.
The celebrations continued last night as Jackie held a charity auction and donated many of his personal collectibles, which included a Lamborghini sports car that was eventually auctioned off for HK$10 million.
In another display of affluence, Chinese singer-actress Li Bingbing spent a shocking amount of HK$19 million (approximately SG$3.85 million) to successfully bid for a famed piece of art.
