Stephen Fung planning surprise proposal for Shu Qi?
After Taiwanese model-actress Shu Qi seemingly admitted her romance with Hong Kong actor Stephen Fung by posting photos of her diamond ring and the latter with her cat, the public’s attention has been focused on this long-time rumoured couple. Recently, rumour has it that Stephen plans to propose to Shu Qi in Tokyo, Japan, during her birthday.
The couple, who have reportedly been in an on-off relationship since they co-starred in 1998 film Beauty, are said to have reconciled late last year.
A source revealed that Stephen had been spending a lot of time with Shu Qi after ending his relationship with Taiwanese actress Vivian Hsu, as both parties were single and looking for a partner. The couple has always enjoyed a close relationship, and their actions late last year hinted that they were a couple. On Valentine’s Day this year, Stephen gifted a bouquet of flowers to Shu Qi, igniting her urge to get hitched.
Shu Qi will be turning 38 on April 16, and the pair have reportedly requested to take a half-month break from work. There are speculations that Stephen plans to spring a surprise proposal on the actress during their vacation.
Regarding their intended destination, a source said that Stephen had not told Shu Qi their itinerary, wanting to keep it a surprise.
Stephen had originally planned a ski trip in Switzerland, but Shu Qi was unwilling to spend her birthday skiing even though she is fond of the sport, so the actor decided on Japan instead.
The source added, “His friends asked him whether he was going there to propose, but he only smiled slyly like he always does.”
Meanwhile, Shu Qi, who has always claimed to not want children, has supposedly given the nod to pre-marriage pregnancy: “I don’t object to pre-marriage pregnancy. The most important thing is to take responsibility for the child; it’s okay as long as I try my best to guide him as he grows.”
