T800 – Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991)

From villain to hero; in T2 Schwarzenegger swapped sides and in the process redefined a character who’d become a cinematic icon after the franchise’s opening installment. Sent back in time to protect a brattish John Connor from Skynet’s clutches; Arnie is no longer just an unstoppable killing machine but a carer, protector and even father figure all bundled up in one leather-clad, Harley riding bad-ass. It’s a great film of course. But it’s a testament to just how good Arnie’s performance is that the T800 morphs from fearsome villain to tragic hero, and all in the course of 139 magnificent minutes.
