The tech
The times are in favour of The Hobbit here, which employs the very latest technology. However there are those that are critical of the ultra-clear 48 frames-per-second filming that Peter Jackson used this time round, saying that the incredible clarity of the picture makes everything look like a dodgy daytime soap. For our money, the 48 fps in 3D is a revelation. And though seeing everything (and we do mean EVERYTHING) does distract from the ‘mysteriousness’ of the Middle Earth environment somehow, it certainly has the ‘wow’ factor.
