Tony Leung said to be a ‘new generation asset king’
Veteran film star Tony Leung has built up the reputation of being the ‘asset king’ in the property industry, having owned HK$500 million (approximately S$82.3 million) worth of property.
Since the ‘90s, Tony has been actively investing in property, and even spent HK$5 million (approximately S$820,000) to buy the luxury Horizon Bay luxury villa in Sai Kung, Hong Kong. The villa took 20 years to be sold at six times its cost price, at HK$30 million (approximately S$4.93 million).
He started investing short-term in property since 2008, and spent HK$30 million (approximately S$4.93 million) on a piece of property, which sold for HK$80 million (approximately S$13.16 million) last year, making a profit of HK$50 million (approximately S$8.23 million).
His wife, veteran actress Carina Lau, praised him: “He has such a good business sense, and buys assets faster than I do!”
Tony has been rumoured to have plans to purchase a hilltop mansion, and have been actively looking a few potential buys. It is understood that he loves hilltop views and its serenity, so it is not clear yet if he is purchasing it for investment or for private use.
Recently, Tony toured a hilltop area with Carina and good friend Louis Tan, a director and merchant in the film industry, and appeared to be serious in his consideration.
