#5 Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes end their fairytale union
Once a target of the paps, always a target of the paps. A perennial gossip topic in the US tabloids, ex-showbiz couple Tom-Katie are what the paps would call their bread and butter or better yet, sustenance of their livelihoods. While it may have seemed to be a fairytale-like dream come true (note: he was her childhood fantasy), Tom and Katie’s marriage was a union set in troubled waters because of their different upbringing and opinions. In what is seen as “a calculated move” by many on Katie’s end (she caught Tom by surprise with her plans to file for separation) endless speculations and a frantic media circus ensued when news got out. Formally divorced now, the couple is still (yes!) creating buzz thanks to their daughter (Suri Cruise), high-profiled individual lives and acting careers. We won’t see an end to their hogging of front page spreads yet, at least not in the near future.
