Hugh Hefner has congratulated Holly Madison on becoming a mother.

The Playboy mogul was impressed with pictures of his former girlfriend and her baby Rainbow Aurora in the latest issue of In Touch magazine and took to his Twitter account to congratulate her on the tot.

He wrote: ''Holly has never looked more beautiful, or happier, than in photos holding her baby in the celebrity magazines this week.''

Despite dating Hugh and starring in 'Girls Next Door' with his other girlfriends Kendra Wilkinson and Bridget Marquardt, Holly previously revealed she only keeps in touch with Bridget.

She said: ''Bridget and I are still friends, but I don't talk to anyone else. I moved on from the whole Playboy thing five years ago and really never looked back. I'm not one of those girls who goes back to all the parties and things.''

Holly - who welcomed Rainbow into the world with fiance Pasquale Rotella by her side - was recently forced to defend her daughter's unusual moniker.

She said: ''There are a lot of smug haters out there who bag on my choice of a name, but I don't care about what they think. I want my daughter to be proud of who she is and learn to speak up and stand up for herself at a young age.

''I spent most of my life being a people-pleaser who worried about what other people thought or thought was cool and I don't want that for her.

''I have always loved the name Rainbow. There was a girl in my school a few years younger than me named Rainbow and I was so envious of her name because it was so pretty and unusual. She was perfectly normal, well-adjusted, sporty girl, by the way, so I'm not worried about my daughter being 'traumatized' by having an unusual name.''
