Kara's Han Seung Yeon will be launching her acting career with a role in a period piece.
The singer has been cast for her first acting role in the upcoming SBS drama Jang Ok Jung.
Han Seung Yeon will appear as Sook Bin (concubine) Choi. She rose to the status of royal concubine from a lowly maid, and in the end managed to make her son King Yeongjo. She will be in conflict with Jang Hee Bin (Kim Tae Hee) over the love of King Sukjong (Yoo Ah In).
Despite her busy schedules inside and outside of the country, Han Seung Yeon still managed to find time to prepare for her acting ventures.
A rep from DSP Media said on February 1, "Han Seung Yeon has dreamed of acting, and after much consideration with a serious atittude, decided to appear in Jang Ok Jung. She's appeared as a cameo before and she's starred in Japanese dramas, but this is her first official acting feat with a full-length piece. As it is a period piece, she's trying to prepare as much as she can with determination."
Jang Ok Jung sets Jang Hee Bin not as the usual political figure she is depicted as, but as Joseon's first fashion designer, and shines new light on her life and dreams as a woman.
The drama will air following the conclusion of Yawang in April.
