Best known as the frontman of Korean band F.T. Island, Lee Hong Gi spends the majority of his time rocking out with his the rest of his band members. In the past year, however, the 23-year-old has branched out further – among his many endeavours, his talents will be put to the test for the first time on the silver screen with feel-good flick Rockin’ On Heaven’s Door.

In a short and sweet email interview with xinmsn, Hong Gi brought us up to speed with his life and thoughts after filming the movie. No stranger to the set, he memorably played happy-go-lucky Jeremy in rom-com You’re Beautiful with Jang Keun Suk, Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa. Tongue-in-cheek, he quipped that the biggest difference between working on a drama and movie was the schedule. “Film shooting has a more flexible (schedule) compared to a drama schedule,” he said matter-of-factly.

The entertainer plays fiery top star musician Chung-ui with a troublemaking tendency to boot in Rockin’ On Heaven’s Door. This is not unfamiliar grounds for Hong Gi, who has reprised a musician’s role more than once in recent years. Confessing that he felt “concerned” about being typecast into such roles, he mused, “I’ve become fascinated by the story (so) I thought worrying wasn’t necessary.”
