Born Enrique Martin Morales, the Puerto Rican star shot to fame with songs such as ‘Livin’ la Vida Loca’ and ‘She Bangs’. Kick-starting his career with his Latin charm, some questioned his reasoning behind changing his name to the much plainer Ricky.

The decision to change his name was made after an argument the 40-year-old had with his father. Even after they reconciled, the name stuck as the singer had already built a reputation based his name, Ricky Martin.

The verdict: Prior to his self-titled first English album, Ricky was under the radar despite debuting at the tender age of 12. While ‘Ricky’ may not have been the most innovative name, it definitely made a difference!
