AKB48’s Minami Minegishi

What reportedly happened: Japanese girl-group AKB48’s Minami Minegishi was photographed leaving the apartment of a boy band member; by which breaking the band’s ‘No Love’ policy – no boys, no dating.

The aftermath: A video of her getting her hair shaved while tearfully apologising for her ‘misdeed’ was uploaded on the company’s official channel. She was also demoted to trainee despite being one of the original members of the hugely popular group.

Our two cents: A public outcry followed after the video was uploaded and it was taken down soon after. While she reportedly did the shaving of her own accord, fans questioned the necessity of uploading the video and her subsequent demotion. One thing is for sure: fans have rallied their support for Minami, promising to stick by her side.
