Does Psy ever get sick of ‘Gangnam Style’?
Truth is, he does.
Revealing this at a brief press conference before his public showcase at Marina Bay Sands on Saturday night, Psy, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, admitted that he does, at times, get sick of the “Gangnam Style” that’s brought him fame and fortune.
“Sometimes, honestly, yes I get sick of it because I got so many requests to teach them… say 50 requests per city, per country,” the 34-year-old South Korean rap singer shared, but not before acknowledging that the pop hit was also what turned him into the worldwide phenomenon he is today – after a relatively mild decade in the industry.
“I got this kind of fame in a lot of countries with the dance,” he said earnestly in American-accented English, though not perfect. “Of course, sometimes I’m tired about it but I gotta do it – that’s my job.”
Fortunately, Psy was also quick to clarify that despite the many times he’s performed the number, he “really likes the dance still”.
